"El primer sencillo "La Musica" publicado en junio ha recibido aclamaciones de mucha gente: Erol Alkan, Ellen Allien, Tim Sweeney y Mark Ronson. Y usándolo Busy P en sus sesiones y siendo licenciado por sellos como Kitsune, Bugged Out! o Hed Kandi. Incluso Karl Lagerfeld quería que la canción saliese en la banda sonora de su pelicula de Channel ‘Remember Now’.

El "Mondo Vagabondo EP" es un disco luminoso de baile y romántico. Es para casa pero lleno de influencias de rock psicodélico, pop, italo-disco de piano e incluso de cancion francesa. MUNK ha salpicado esto con percusiones afro electrónicas, dulces melodías y bajos incontestables.

En las pistas de Munk, Mathias reproduce todos los instrumentos él mismo: pianos, teclados, bajo, guitarra, tambores, xilófonos, cajas de ritmos. Su padre es un compositor alemán de música de vanguardia y su madre es una cantante italiana. El incluir estas influencias le da un toque único y fresco.

Munk y Gomma Records han estado creciendo en fuerza, ganando prestigio y elogios de los bloggers y la prensa. Dazed Magazine una vez lo describió como "el sello más fresco de Alemania" y NME ha definido al sello Gomma como "la versión alemana de DFA de Nueva York".

"Disco punk stalwart and label boss, Mathias Modica, aka MUNK announces his new EP, ‘Mondo Vagabondo’ on Gomma Records this autumn. After a two year hiatus MUNK returns with five stunning tracks, painstakingly crafted in his own imitable way.

The first single ‘La Musica’ released in June to critical acclaim, had support from all corners with Erol Alkan, Ellen Allien, Tim Sweeney and Mark Ronson giving it heavy rotation. Busy P used it for his first mix CD and this thumping Italo house number has been licensed to the new Kitsune, Bugged Out! and Hed Kandi compilations. Even Karl Lagerfeld wanted the song in the soundtrack for his Chanel - movie ‘Remember Now’.

The ‘Mondo Vagabondo EP’ is a sunny, romantic dance record. It is house music but filled with influences from Psychedelic Rock, Italo Pop, Piano disco and even French chansons. MUNK has peppered this with electronic afro percussions, super sweet melodies, big chords, screaming organs, and irresistible bass lines.

On the MUNK tracks, Mathias plays all instruments himself: pianos, keys, bass, guitar, drums, xylophones, drum machines. His father is a German avant-garde music composer and his mum is an Italian singer. In his music he loves to include all these different influences, giving this EP a unique, fresh approach.

MUNK and Gomma Records have been growing from strength to strength, garnering kudos and accolades from bloggers and press alike. Dazed Magazine once described it as, “Germany’s freshest label” and NME defined Gomma recently as, “the German version of New York’s DFA”.
